Renewed in Valencia

For the past couple nights I've been thankful to stay at a nice house out in the orange groves of Valencia. There are three other couch surfers along with me and we all are greatly enjoying the stay with our Scottish host, Aidan. The typical Scottish stereotypes all have come true for me in person. I love it. Aidan makes most American men sound like little boys with the booming Scottish voice he's got.

With the night temperatures at an average of 27 degrees Celsius and decent humidity, people live through the night like its day.
As we were hanging out at a nice little Valencian bar it wasn't unusual to see mothers strolling babies around or kids running through the streets all at 1am. Its not late here untill 3am. This all makes sense considering that it pretty much hurts to go outside during the day. Strange as it sounds, the lights in Valencia are the brightest streetlights I've ever seen. The picture above gives a glimps of what is found all throughout the city. Those balls of light are basically small suns.

Yesterday I got time to hop on a city bus that makes a few stops near the beach. Aidan mentioned that Valencia's beach is pretty amazing for a city beach. I wanted to go see for myself.

All the people who hate how cold the ocean is in California ought to come out here to Spain for their vacation. The Mediteranian water is pretty ridiculous perfect. There was no trying to convince myself that the water was warm enough. It was perfect, so perfect that not jumping in would have been unnatural. I met a nice Valencian family and they were able to watch my stuff as I swam around a bit and then relaxed on the groomed beach.

Today was the first day in a while that I woke up without a strange drowsy sick feeling. Its definetally a nice change since I've been traveling at a slower pace lately. Soon I'll be back to my usual pace of adventures. Waking up and having a bowl of ceral every morning has been quite nice but I want to get back across Europe to see Slovenia and Croatia all in time to meet up with my Sacramento buddy in Germany in about two weeks time. My old travel buddy says I have to stick around Spain to see some more beaches but rumor has it that Croatia has the bluest water in the world. I'm sorry Ryan, I think Croatia is calling my name.
